Computing For Fun

To introduce the complete beginner to computers.  Topics to include word processing, email, surfing the Internet and designing cards for all occasions.

These qualifications are available in Welsh.

 

ECDL

The European Computer Driving Licence is a world-wide qualification in Information Technology.  It is for those who wish to gain a basic qualification in computing to help them with their current job, develop their skills, and enhance career prospects or just for general interest.

This qualification is available in Welsh.

ECDL Advanced

ECDL Advanced will allow you to demonstrate your higher level computer skills, you can show employers that you are confident, competent and efficient in a range of applications.  The applications covered are Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases and Presentation Graphics.

If you complete all of the ECDL Advanced modules you will also receive an “ECDL Expert” certificate.  As an ECDL Expert you will also be eligible to become an Associate member of the British Computer Society and be able to put the
letters AMBCS after your name.

OCR Level 1 Certificate/Diploma for IT Users (CLAiT)

CLAIT is a Level 1 qualification developed by OCR to reflect new technology and the need to gain skills which are relevant in the modern workplace. Units available include: Desktop Publishing, e-image manipulation and Web Page Design.

 

OCR Level 2 Certificate/Diploma For IT Users (CLAiT PLUS)

CLAIT Plus is a Level 2 qualification developed by OCR to reflect new technology and extend individual skills applicable to the modern workplace. The range of modules available within the CLAIT Plus course include: e-image manipulation; website creation; and presentations.

SAGE Accounting

Aims to introduce those who keep books and accounts for business to an automated process on a computer using SAGE Line 50. It will show how the information from the system can be used to manage your business more efficiently.

 

Multimedia Presentations

A new course aiming to provide skills to present images and text using image editing, Powerpoint and multimedia. Also covering the use of different equipment for this purpose e.g. digital camera, scanners, projectors and storage media. The course would suit students involved in presenting information to others such as Family history, clubs, societies or just for friends and family.

How to do Useful things with your Computer

A new course providing practical uses and 'how tos..' for your Computer, e.g backing up important files, creating CDs, editing digital movies, downloading mp3 files, scanning, Ebay, broadband etc.

Are you interested in using a digital camera to take photos in different ways and then learn techniques how to improve them? Or have you heard about Podcasts and wondered how you might be able to create your own and share it with other people? Sage Payroll (V9)

This course will help you to utilise the features of SAGE Payroll to process your payroll efficiently and effectively. This course will help you to: Set up and maintain essential details of employees; Keep accurate absence records for your employees; maintain PAYE and NI tables; process your payroll with minimum effort.

Digital Imaging

Learn how to make the most of your Digital Camera; take better photos; how to use a scanner, transfer, store and print images. Learn basic editing skills with Adobe Photoshop. You will need your own digital camera.

Family History using your Computer

Use your computer to help you compile & display your family tree. Use the internet and other sources for research. Enhance your family tree presentation with the use of multimedia, e.g. digital photography, scanner & camcorder. Record the information using Family History software.
